LOOKING AHEAD TO CALAS IN 2016

Happy Holidays to our members and friends! Truck and I hope that our VALYRIA and now the WHITE CHRISTMAS sim were all that you expected them to be. When we saw so many enjoying VALYRIA and now WHITE CHRISTMAS it reminds us how fortunate we are.

January … BREAKTIME!

As in years past, Truck and I will be closing the Park sims for the entire month of January and taking a much deserved break. We’ll be back in February along with our Live Music program.  I’m sure there will be questions in group or from friends about why they can’t get in so we’ll rely on you to help us spread the word 🙂

Calas Galadhon Park in 2016

Seasonal changes at the Park are something many visitors enjoy and have always made Calas somewhat unique for an estate of its size. You may have noticed recently it has been harder for us to keep pace with these changes and those which keep the sims fresh and updated.

Since the ‘birth’ of CALAS in 2009, Truck and I have both been blessed with good health and a RL that allows us to continue our work in Second Life. The loving support that our visitors have shared … through both donations and kind words of appreciation has been a blessing all its own.

RL has a way of grabbing one’s attention and focus when it’s necessary. This past year I’ve had to wrestle with some health problems that prevent me from spending as much time in a chair with a keyboard. This has made it a struggle at times to keep pace with what I’ve been used to the past 7 years. Add to that the still considerable financial commitment for Truck and I and it becomes clear that we need to strike more of a balance between RL & SL in 2016.

Changes

We feel that striking this balance will mean reducing the number of sims to a more manageable (and affordable) level in the coming year. Doing so will … at least after the change is complete … will mean less work, stress and worry over funding. We’ll still need some support through donations to keep things running, but at least the pressure of meeting the very large monthly tier from Linden Lab will be manageable for us when donations are down.

The Sims

We are not sure of the exact changes at this point  but we want to assure you that once all is done and put together again, the Park will still reflect the beauty, peace and ‘sense of place’ that makes ‘Calas’ what it is. We’ll keep you posted on the progress during our break in January.

We are hoping to continue creating our special ‘seasonal sims’ as we have in the past, like this year’s VALYRIA & WHITE CHRISTMAS. We love the work and it is always well supported by our members and the public.

We can’t thank enough our three dearest friends who continue to help us ‘take care of business’ around the sims, with our events, blog, publicity and most of all … keep both Truck and I on track; Kerena Zhangsun, Alicia Underby and Romie Vella. Without them we’d have been hard-pressed to keep Calas running as smooth as it has the past 12 months.
