DON’T MISS TONIGHT’S SHOW – THE FINALE FOR “A CALAS CHRISTMAS 2024!”

See you there – dress warm and bring your skates! Here’s your ride: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/MIDWINTER%201/67/112/23

CALAS GALADHON INVITES YOU TO MIDWINTER MEMORIES TODAY 1PM SLT!

Some special instructions for the best experience & “Best Wishes to all in this Special Season” from…Delain and Kurk

P L E A S E   N O T E – Display begins at 1pm SLT but please arrive at least 15 minutes early for a better experience. The particle display works better when not competing with heavily scripted or highly active avatars for the sim server’s attention so we ask you to reduce your script count and complexity  as much as you can. But do dress for winter…

If this is not your first experience with particles then you probably have your settings just as you want them…

If you are new to particle lights or not sure, don’t worry. Our particles don’t require any fancy special settings. Just make sure you have the following set in your Graphics Preferences…

  • Draw distance set to at least 256 meters (if you can — higher settings can be laggy)
  • Graphics Quality set to High or Ultra (if you can)
  • Max. particle count set to 8192 (if you can)
  • Render Attached Particles (checked in Rendering tab)
  • Be sure to render Delain Canucci and Kurk Mumfuzz fully…

(Using Firestorm? Right click the avatar > more > more > render > fully)

(Using SL Viewer? Right click the avatar > Render Avatar > always)

Also, set your viewer to “Use Shared Environment” (World > Environment > Use Shared Environment). If you cannot share the environmental settings, setting to Midnight will be your next best option. Our emitters have been tuned to the Midwinter 2 sim EEP setting so shared will give you the best results…

Finally, two recommendations for better viewing and less lag:

  • turn off name and group tags you see on others
  • derender avatars around you (but not Delain or Kurk)

P L E A S E   N O T E – A warning for anyone who might be vulnerable to any kind of seizures (such as epilepsy) that we can create a lot of bright flashy visual noise and this particle display should probably be avoided. I strongly recommend that anyone who might suffer any kind of seizure should not attend this event…

Finally, a word of appreciation to Ty Tenk and Truck Meredith and all our friends of Calas Galadhon. Please be generous with your donations to Calas Galadhon. We encourage you to spend time exploring the Calas Christmas sims!
